CetraRuddy Designs Expansion of Porcelanosa Flagship Showroom at Madison Square Park New York City
Mr. Sohith Perera AIA from CetraRuddy will present the year long design and approval process from the Landmarks Preservation Commission for the expansion and building renovations of two co-joined historic landmarks in the Flatiron District of Midtown Manhattan
This presentation will touch on the goal to unify two properties into one cohesive design that both preserves the Beaux-Arts commercial buildings and creates a new dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.
In collaboration with engineering consultants, Walter P. Moore, the total interior gutting for the new addition will be described for the proposed alignment of all floors and services.
To be sensitive to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, working with preservation consultants, Higgins Quasebarth, a complete façade restoration and renewal will be reviewed during this presentation.
A central two story vertical addition on the roof will be presented with a design that incorporates a curved masonry skin to connect both structures while creating a new roof terrace overlooking Madison Square Park.
